About the role
This role supports a specialised workgroup while delivering occupational therapy assessment and treatment to referred patients. You will also help supervise occupational therapists and therapy assistants within the workgroup. It suits a registered therapist with relevant experience who enjoys clinical leadership and service development.
What you'll do
Assess and manage patients referred for occupational therapy independently, putting suitable treatment plans into practice with specialist knowledge and skills
Report to the referring doctor and other members of the medical team
Keep accurate patient occupational therapy records
Charge patients accurately
Update individual performance statistical records each month
Follow clinical and service standards
Work within your professional competence and seek clinical support from a supervisor or other healthcare professionals when needed
Work with other healthcare members and help organise and involve occupational therapists in multidisciplinary case conferences
Help review and update clinical protocols and SOPs using current evidence-based research
Take part in clinical education and help develop and coordinate the clinical education programme for occupational therapy students attached to the workgroup
Help start and run clinical research projects related to the workgroup
Help prepare monthly performance reports for the workgroup
Help monitor the workgroup's key performance indicators covering clinical and service quality, revenue and productivity
Prepare and regularly update the inventory of therapy equipment for the workgroup
Help with budgeting for therapeutic equipment and consumables, and help prepare yearly capex, minor assets and operating budget documents for the workgroup
Help manage complaints, prevent adverse events and promote workplace safety
Help develop, promote and market new clinical services
Help induct and/or supervise new occupational therapists deployed to the workgroup, and help update induction checklists and files
Help identify training needs, improve wellness and develop staff in the workgroup
Contribute to department in-service training programmes
Actively update your occupational therapy knowledge and skills
Contribute to hospital educational talks and external talks, workshops, forums or seminars
Network strategically with healthcare practitioners in AH to improve teamwork, efficiency and patient care
Help manage projects assigned to the workgroup

Requirements
Recognised Diploma or Degree in Occupational Therapy
Postgraduate qualification in a relevant clinical specialty is preferred
3 years of relevant work experience and full AHPC registration preferred
Good communication and interpersonal skills
Good supervisory and coaching skills
