How to become cabin crew in Singapore

What the airlines ask for

Singapore Airlines (cabin crew, Singapore):

• At least 18 years old.
• At least 5 GCE O-Level credits including English, or a Higher Nitec or above.
• Minimum height of 1.58m for female applicants and 1.65m for male applicants, to carry out safety and emergency procedures on board.
• Fluent English, good communication skills and a service-minded personality.
• Able to start within three months of applying.

Scoot’s requirements

• At least 18 years old.
• Any one of: 3 GCE O-Level passes including English; 5 GCE N(A) or N(T) passes including English; or 3 SPM passes with at least a C in English.
• Height: female applicants 158cm, or at least 156cm and able to reach over a 210cm line; male applicants 165cm, or at least 162cm and able to reach over a 210cm line.
• Medically fit, and able to work a roster that includes weekends and public holidays.
• No visible tattoos, under Scoot’s grooming policy.
• Scoot also runs a part-time cabin crew scheme, open only to Singapore Citizens and PRs, on a two-year contract.

How selection works

• SIA: apply online. Selected applicants get a link to an online video interview, and those shortlisted are invited to final interviews. Only shortlisted candidates are contacted.
• Scoot: apply online. Shortlisted applicants do an online assessment and attend an Assessment Centre, both within about a month of applying, and must be able to start within two months of the Assessment Centre.
• Prepare as you would for any interview: know why you want the job, and have one or two real examples of looking after people under pressure, from work, CCAs or volunteering.

Training, contract and salary

• SIA: a four-month training programme covering safety procedures, product knowledge and grooming, with a basic salary paid during training. Crew are based in Singapore on an initial five-year contract, which can be extended depending on performance.
• SIA states that after graduation, salary is approximately S$4,000 to S$5,000 a month, including flight allowance based on hours flown. Benefits include a free trip a year to an SIA destination and discounted travel for you and eligible family.
• Scoot: a two-month full-time training programme on joining, covering safety and emergency drills, door operation, fire fighting, first aid, grooming and passenger handling. Scoot does not publish salaries; its September 2026 posting offered a sign-on bonus to Singapore Citizens and PRs (terms apply).

Avoid fake recruiters

• SIA recruits cabin crew directly and does not use third-party agencies. Anyone claiming to recruit on SIA’s behalf has no authority to do so.
• Airlines do not charge fees to process your application. Never pay for "guaranteed interviews", "placement" or "training before selection".
• Apply only through the airline’s own careers site. Scoot’s applications run through its official careers page.
