About the role
This role sits within a Distributed Ledger Technology Centre of Excellence, focused on delivering blockchain infrastructure, digital assets and enterprise integrations end to end. You will work in a flat, agile team alongside platform, security, network and compliance colleagues, and the position suits a technically strong developer who enjoys peer review and emerging technology.
What you'll do
Build and maintain blockchain protocols, smart contracts, tokenisation modules and consensus algorithms
Ensure blockchain solutions are secure, reliable and able to scale
Keep up with new developments in blockchain and cryptocurrency
Troubleshoot and fix problems in blockchain applications and systems
Recommend development processes and best practices for blockchain work

Carry out code reviews covering quality, maintainability, security, scalability and coding standards
Work with permissioned blockchain frameworks such as Quorum, Hyperledger Besu, Hyperledger Fabric and Corda, including provisioning, configuration and orchestration
Apply DLT use cases including real world asset tokenisation, cross-border payments, decentralised identity and smart contract based financial products
Develop backend services using Python or Golang, Solidity, RESTful APIs and microservice architectures
Deploy systems using Docker, Kubernetes and Helm on AWS EKS or Azure AKS through CI/CD pipelines
Work with cryptographic primitives such as public/private key infrastructure, symmetric and asymmetric encryption, digital signatures and secure key management
Collaborate with platform, security, network and compliance teams to integrate DLT services into enterprise systems
Work with AWS and/or Azure networking, access controls, high availability setups and infrastructure automation
Partner with solution architects and security experts to design systems that meet internal controls, frameworks and best practices
Follow SDLC practices, Agile delivery, Git-based version control, issue tracking and technical documentation
Work with cross-functional teams across Dev, DevOps and QA through the full delivery lifecycle
Interact with business users, compliance, security and external partners to align technical goals with business outcomes
Coach and support junior engineers
Identify, escalate, mitigate and resolve risk, conduct and compliance matters
Align applications with the group technology and security framework and put appropriate controls in place
Understand the regulatory framework for infrastructure hosting and data management in client facing applications
Uphold the group's values and code of conduct, including regulatory and business conduct standards

8+ years' experience in Core Java, Spring, Spring Boot Microservices and REST API development is expected
Experience with event streaming or messaging such as Kafka or Solace is expected
Experience with RDBMS and SQL such as Oracle, PostgreSQL or M
