About the role
This role sits with the wine programme at The Singapore EDITION, a hotel on Cuscaden Road. You will handle wine and champagne service for guests while helping to keep the wine list, cellar and stock in order. It suits someone with a couple of years of related experience who enjoys talking guests through wine and coaching colleagues.
Respond to guest questions about wine origin, vintage and style
Keep the wine list and MICROS system updated
Recommend and pair wines with menu items
Attend wine tastings and build ties with vendors
Request new wines and products
Create and refresh wine lists
Plan and run wine promotions and incentive programmes
Track and top up wine cellar, equipment and glassware stock
Train and educate server and bartender colleagues
Carry out vintage and BIN number checks
Run staff wine tastings
Keep liquors, beers, wines, coolers, cabinets and storage areas secure
Follow state and local rules on responsible alcohol service
Maintain an accurate spill sheet
Follow company safety and security policies, report accidents, injuries and unsafe conditions, and complete safety training and certifications
Keep uniform and personal appearance clean and professional, maintain confidentiality of proprietary information and protect company assets
Welcome guests per company standards, anticipate and address their needs, assist individuals with disabilities and thank guests genuinely
Communicate clearly and professionally and answer telephones with appropriate etiquette
Build positive working relationships and support the team in reaching common goals
Meet quality expectations and standards
Read and visually verify information in various formats, including small print
Stand, sit or walk for long periods or an entire shift
Move, lift, carry, push, pull and place objects up to 50 pounds without help
Grasp, turn and handle objects of different sizes and weights with fine motor skills and hand-eye coordination
Move through narrow, confined or elevated spaces
Move over sloping, uneven or slippery surfaces and up and down stairs or service ramps
Reach overhead and below the knees, including bending, twisting, pulling and stooping
Perform other reasonable duties as requested by supervisors
