About the role

This in-house legal role sits within a bank's Legal Department in Singapore, supporting a digital banking ecosystem. You will work alongside senior legal professionals on regulatory advisory, negotiations and corporate transactions. It suits a commercially minded lawyer who has moved from private practice into an in-house financial institution setting.

What you'll do

Provide high-level legal support to the Bank and its regional affiliates, keeping work aligned with local and regional regulatory expectations.
Lead and assist corporate exercises such as M&A, strategic investments, and joint ventures or collaborations in fintech and banking.
Draft, review and negotiate complex transactional documents, including tech procurement (SaaS/PaaS), digital ecosystem partnership agreements, and intra-group regional service agreements.

Advise on legal issues around launching and scaling digital banking products, covering IT, data protection (PDPA) and intellectual property.

Manage legal disputes and advise on corporate governance to protect the Bank's interests in contentious matters.

Identify and implement legal technology solutions such as AI-based tools and document automation to streamline workflows.

Liaise and coordinate with external law firms to ensure cost-effective, high-quality delivery of specialised legal services.

Represent the Legal team in bank-wide projects, working with Product, Data, Tech, Risk and other control functions.

Requirements

Bachelor of Laws (LLB) or equivalent from a reputable university
Admitted to the Singapore Bar or an equivalent common law jurisdiction
3 to 5 years of post-qualification experience
At least 2–3 years of in-house experience in a financial institution such as a bank, MAS-regulated entity or fintech
Proven track record in M&A and general corporate/commercial law
Familiarity with tech-related legal issues including data privacy and IP
