About the role
This role supports a multidisciplinary One Health research project looking at zoonotic disease risks at the human-animal interface in Singapore. You would join the Signature Research Programme in Emerging Infectious Diseases, which brings together immunology, infection biology, pathogen genomics and computational work. It suits someone with a life sciences or related degree who is organised, detail-minded and comfortable with both fieldwork and laboratory work.
What you'll do
Coordinate and carry out collection of biological and environmental samples from high-risk interfaces
Take part in fieldwork, gathering biological samples from animals plus environmental samples such as air, wastewater, soil and surfaces at sites across Singapore
Support laboratory processing, including molecular assays, serological testing, nucleic acid extraction, PCR/RT-qPCR and preparation for metagenomic sequencing
Handle data entry, sample tracking, database management and upkeep of accurate research records
Help run knowledge, attitudes and practices (KAP) surveys and participant recruitment
Make sure work follows biosafety, animal ethics and human research protocols
Contribute to data analysis, report writing, literature reviews, presentations and manuscripts
Liaise with collaborators, government agencies and research partners
Carry out other related duties incidental to the work

Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Zoology, Veterinary Science, Life Sciences, Microbiology, Public Health, Epidemiology, Biomedical Science or a related field
Strong organisational skills and attention to detail
Able to work independently and within a multidisciplinary team
Willing to do fieldwork at multiple sites across Singapore and potentially outside standard working hours
