About the role

This role supports the daily running of a signature restaurant at The Singapore EDITION, covering restaurant and bar areas plus room service where needed. You will help lead the floor team, keep service standards high, and step in for the Restaurant Manager or Director of Restaurants when they are away. It suits someone with solid food and beverage experience who enjoys coaching staff and looking after guests.

What you'll do

Handle employee questions and concerns
Watch over employees to make sure performance expectations are met
Give feedback based on what you observe in service
Help supervise daily shift operations
Oversee the restaurant and related areas when the Director of Restaurants or Restaurant Manager is absent
Take part in department meetings and share departmental goals clearly
Make sure staff have the right supplies, equipment and uniforms
Raise food quality and service level issues with the Chef and Restaurant Manager
Ensure the restaurant follows all policies, standards and procedures
Monitor alcohol service so it meets local laws
Work towards meeting or beating budgeted goals
Carry out the duties of restaurant employees and related departments when needed
Open and close restaurant shifts
Talk with guests to gather feedback on food quality and service
Adjust staffing levels so guest service, operational needs and financial targets are met
Encourage staff to deliver strong customer service within the guidelines
Deal with guest problems and complaints, asking a supervisor for help when needed
Keep pushing to improve service performance
Set a good example for guest relations
Help review comment cards and guest satisfaction results with employees
Meet and greet guests
Oversee ongoing training initiatives
Use all available on-the-job training tools for employees
Communicate performance expectations based on each position's job description
Coach and counsel employees on performance regularly
Share information with supervisors, co-workers and subordinates by phone, in writing, by email or in person
Analyse information and results to pick the best solution and solve problems
Assist servers and hosts on the floor during meal periods and busy times
Recognise good quality products and presentations
Supervise daily shift operations when the Restaurant Manager is absent
