About the role

You will join a multi-disciplinary engineering team at Dyson's Singapore Technology Centre, focused on discovering and developing disruptive new product concepts, features and technologies. The role suits an engineer who enjoys first-principles thinking, prototyping and working in small, focused teams on challenging technical problems.

What you'll do

Generate original ideas and spot market opportunities, turning them into compelling product concepts from first principles.
Engineer mechanical and electronic systems that shape future product specifications, optimising performance, cost and manufacturability.
Design and build functional prototypes, including bespoke test methods, for performance validation and stakeholder demonstrations.

Validate concepts through hand calculations, simulations (MATLAB & Simulink, 1D modelling, Ansys) and/or rapid lab testing to assess feasibility and performance.

Interpret test and simulation data, presenting insights and proposals in technical design reviews.

Maintain detailed design rationale and contribute to formal specifications, ensuring traceability and clarity in technical decisions.

Develop scalable mechanical systems using 3D CAD (Siemens NX), PLM (Teamcenter) and simulation tools, collaborating with suppliers as needed.

Collaborate with Research and wider cross-functional teams to integrate new technologies, keep up with industry trends and apply emerging techniques to product design.

Requirements

Degree or equivalent in a relevant engineering or science discipline
Experience in a relevant role or organisation working on complex user needs and challenging technical problems
High degree of creativity and proven ability to work well in small, focused teams
Creative and considered approach to problem solving, following a clear design process
Practical and methodical approach to design using an iterative development cycle of prototyping and testing across electro-mechanical mediums
Experience working in a 3D CAD design, Product Systems and Requirements environment
