About the role

This contract role sits within the Producer Responsibility Department, which oversees Extended Producer Responsibility schemes for e-waste and packaging waste, the Disposable Carrier Bag Charge, Mandatory Packaging Reporting and the Beverage Container Return Scheme. You will join a fast-paced team handling policy planning, development and implementation, and the position suits someone with a sustainability or waste management background who enjoys stakeholder-facing regulatory work.

What you'll do

Administer and regulate the beverage container return scheme, including compliance of regulated stakeholders and premises, plus outreach and engagement

Ensure the scheme operator and stakeholders comply with relevant Acts, Regulations and licensing conditions, including reviewing submitted reports and plans and conducting on-site audits and inspections

Facilitate and organise stakeholder discussions, engagements and consultations, and handle feedback and enquiries so information, clarification or advice is provided promptly

Take on other assigned duties, including supporting industry consultations and briefings

Based at NEA-HQ-Environment Building
May need to work after-office hours and weekends when required

Requirements

Diploma in Chemical, Electrical, Mechanical or Environmental Engineering, or another relevant field
At least 5 years of relevant experience in sustainability, environmental and/or waste management
Passion for environmental protection and comfort working with corporate and public stakeholders
Strong organisation and project management skills, able to juggle multiple priorities and stakeholders
Outgoing and pleasant personality; mature, independent, resourceful, self-motivated, patient and resilient, adaptable to varied work scopes
Good team player with strong interpersonal communication, writing and analytical skills
