About the role
Join the kitchen team at Akira Back, a restaurant within JW Marriott Hotel Singapore South Beach. You will help run daily food preparation and cooking to the outlet's recipe, quality and presentation standards, and support the team during busy service. This suits a cook with several years of kitchen experience who is ready to take on more responsibility.
Regulate the temperature of ovens, broilers, grills and roasters
Move food from freezer storage to the refrigerator to thaw
Ensure correct portioning, arrangement and garnish
Maintain food logs
Monitor the quality and quantity of food prepared
Ask for help when service gets busy
Tell the Chef about excess food so it can be used in daily specials
Let food and beverage service staff know about menu specials and items that are out of stock
Prepare and cook food following recipes, quality and presentation standards and the food preparation checklist, including cold foods
Help management with hiring, training, scheduling, evaluating, counselling, disciplining and coaching staff, and act as a role model
Follow company safety and security policies, report maintenance needs, accidents, injuries and unsafe conditions to the manager, and complete safety training and certifications
Keep uniform and personal appearance clean and professional, keep proprietary information confidential and protect company assets
Anticipate and address guest service needs and speak clearly and professionally
Build positive working relationships, support the team in reaching shared goals and respond appropriately to colleagues' concerns
Meet quality expectations and standards
Stand, sit or walk for long periods, reach overhead and below the knees, bend, twist, pull and stoop, and move or lift objects up to 25 pounds without help
Carry out other reasonable duties asked by supervisors

Requirements
Technical, trade or vocational school qualification
At least 3 years of related kitchen work experience
No supervisory experience required
Able to stand, sit or walk for long periods
Able to reach overhead and below the knees, and bend, twist, pull and stoop
Able to move or lift objects up to 25 pounds without assistance
