About the role
This role sits with Satair's quality team, supporting the Safety and Quality Management System for an aviation maintenance organisation. You will help develop, run and keep improving the system so activities stay compliant with CAA, ISO9001, AS9110 and AS9120 requirements. It suits an engineering-trained professional who enjoys analysis, training and hands-on problem solving.
What you'll do
Serve as the main point of contact for the Safety and Quality Management System and training management
Manage and continually improve the Safety Management System
Set up and maintain a training programme for the maintenance organisation and quality function, covering trainer selection, training and competence assessment
Run the safety reporting and occurrence reporting scheme, including starting and following up internal occurrence investigations

Carry out or facilitate hazard identification and safety risk analysis
Track how effective safety risk controls and corrective actions are, and evaluate the results
Prepare regular reports on safety performance
Plan, facilitate and deliver safety and quality training
Keep training and aviation safety records and documentation in order
Watch safety developments in the aviation industry and assess their impact on repair shop operations
Set up and coordinate the aviation safety emergency response plan
Establish and maintain a safety data collection and processing system and related processes for capturing, storing, aggregating and analysing safety data
Develop safety intelligence through systematic analysis to spot trends, patterns and emerging issues
Build an inspiring team environment with open communication
Handle supplier discrepancies and customer claims
Issue certificates of conformity and authorised release certificates where applicable
Conduct new capability studies and assessments
Lead or take part in practical problem solving
Support the team in a backup capacity as arranged with the Manager
Advise the organisation on quality-related processes
Flag any drop in safety or quality performance and recommend mitigation
Promote safety and quality awareness across the organisation
Help manage a system to monitor, investigate and evaluate customer complaints and warranty issues
Assist in developing new processes with the relevant departments

Requirements
Minimum degree in engineering, such as aeronautical, mechanical, electronic or electrical
At least 2 years of aviation production or maintenance experience, with 1 year in safety and quality assurance preferred
Technically knowledgeable and able to grasp detailed engineering and quality concepts
Able to understand and read blueprints, schematics and component maintenance manuals
Communicates well in English, both spoken and written, and can read procedural documentation and regulations
A good presenter and effective trainer
