About the role

This role supports the kitchen leadership at The St. Regis Singapore, a luxury hotel on Tanglin Road. You will help run daily kitchen operations, guide cooks and kitchen staff, and keep food quality and safety standards high. It suits someone with solid kitchen experience who is ready to take on more supervisory responsibility in a hotel environment.

Supervise and coordinate the work of cooks and kitchen staff
Decide how dishes are presented and create decorative food displays
Make sure portions, plating and garnishes are correct before service
Keep track of how much food is being prepared
Tell food and beverage service staff about menu specials and items that are out of stock
Prepare special meals or substitute dishes when needed
Help cooks and kitchen staff with various tasks and provide them with needed items
Monitor kitchen supply and food stock levels
Keep kitchen logs for the food safety programme and food products
Check food quality and tell the manager if a product does not meet standards
Assist management with hiring, training, scheduling, evaluating, counselling, disciplining and coaching employees
Follow company safety and security policies and procedures
Report maintenance needs, accidents, injuries and unsafe work conditions to the manager
Complete safety training and certifications
Keep uniform and personal appearance clean and professional
Protect confidential information and company assets
Respond to guests' service needs
Communicate clearly and professionally with others
Build positive working relationships and support the team in reaching common goals
Listen and respond appropriately to other employees' concerns
Meet quality expectations and standards
Stand, sit or walk for long periods
Reach overhead and below the knees, including bending, twisting, pulling and stooping
Move, lift, carry, push, pull and place objects weighing up to 25 pounds without help
Carry out other reasonable job duties as requested by supervisors

Requirements

Technical, trade or vocational school degree preferred
4 to 6 years of related work experience
At least 2 years of supervisory experience
Able to stand, sit or walk for extended periods
Able to bend, twist, pull, stoop and reach overhead and below the knees
Able to move, lift, carry, push, pull and place objects up to 25 pounds without assistance
