About the role
This role sits with the Cancer and Stem Cell Biology Programme, a research group focused on the causes and treatment of cancer and related diseases, with particular attention to cancers affecting Asian populations. You will lead and carry out complex research work under a Principal Investigator, and the position suits a scientist with a strong publication record who can work independently and guide junior colleagues.
What you'll do
Apply qualitative and quantitative research methods, including assessing, interpreting and evaluating research outcomes
Design and run experimental research for the project's research component independently
Write and review research papers and present findings
Develop new ideas and plans for independent research that can attract research funding
Support external grant and protocol development, study design and management of research activities
Look into potential funding sources and work with Principal Investigators on grant and fellowship applications
Take part in occasional teaching or instructional activities and project management
Guide and mentor graduate, undergraduate and medical students as well as research assistants
Conduct, supervise and assess laboratory experiments, revise and analyse targets to keep results high quality and reproducible
Handle other related duties incidental to the work

Requirements
PhD in a relevant scientific field and/or postdoctoral experience
At least 6 years of relevant research experience and/or training
Strong expertise in next-generation sequencing technologies and their use in tissue and cell-line models
Demonstrated expertise in cancer chromatin biology, including chromatin structural aberrations and chromatin-modifying enzymes
Proven experience in drug discovery and screening, including assay development, optimisation, compound screening, hit identification and validation, and mechanism-of-action studies
Experience designing and conducting biochemical, molecular, cellular and cancer dependency assays
