About the role
This is a 12-month contract role with the Performance Analytics (Policy) team, part of the Quantitative Strategy and Performance Analytics group within Portfolio Strategy and Risk. The team owns Temasek's Cost of Capital framework and the calculation and reporting of portfolio performance metrics, including the annual Wealth Added figure. It suits someone with a finance or quantitative background who is analytical, detail-oriented and keen to apply technology to improve analytical, data and reporting workflows.
What you'll do
Keep the market parameters used in the Cost of Capital framework maintained and updated to support investment evaluation and monitoring.
Carry out research and analysis on the Cost of Capital framework, covering academic research, market practices and its use for new asset classes.
Perform analytical, data-driven work supporting the implementation and enhancement of the Cost of Capital framework.
Support the implementation and refinement of new performance metrics and methodologies.
Work with the team and technology developers on user acceptance testing of new metrics and enhancements to the performance calculation engine.
Reconcile systems monthly so that position and transaction data for listed and unlisted investments is accurately captured for performance calculations.
Produce recurring investment performance reports and help provide performance information to internal and external stakeholders.
Support monthly reporting and the annual performance reporting and audit process, including preparing and validating underlying data and calculations.
Identify, investigate and follow up on data quality issues and reporting exceptions with relevant stakeholders.
Spot opportunities to streamline and automate recurring data, reconciliation and reporting workflows, and use Python and data libraries to automate extraction, transformation, validation and reconciliation, with documentation and validation of automated processes.

Requirements
Tertiary qualification in Finance, Accounting, Business, Economics or a related discipline
Strong foundation in financial and quantitative analysis
Strong logical and analytical skills, able to work with large financial datasets and translate analysis into insights
Strong interpersonal and communication skills
Able to work independently and across business and technology teams
Meticulous and detail-oriented, focused on data accuracy and quality
